Kerlingarfjöll
📍 Highlands
📖 Description
Kerlingarfjöll is a spectacular highland geothermal area of steaming fumaroles, vivid orange and yellow sulphur deposits, and hot springs set against snow-capped rhyolite peaks. Multiple hiking trails criss-cross the area. The natural hot pots and steam vents create a surreal, almost Martian environment. The camp site here is one of the most dramatically located in Iceland, with mountain views in every direction.
