Stokksnes Black Beach
📍 East Iceland
📖 Description
Stokksnes beach is a long arc of jet-black volcanic sand backed by grass-covered dunes and anchored by the dramatic triangular peak of Vestrahorn mountain. At low tide the wet black sand perfectly mirrors the mountain and sky. The beach stretches for kilometres in near-complete solitude. A Viking-era film set stands among the dunes, adding a cinematic dimension to an already otherworldly landscape.
