Skaftafell
📍 South Iceland
📖 Description
Skaftafell is a sheltered oasis of birch woodland and flowering meadows tucked beneath the Vatnajökull ice cap. Multiple trails fan out from the visitor centre, passing waterfalls, glacier tongues and panoramic ridge viewpoints. The iconic Svartifoss waterfall is 1.5 km away, and the Skaftafellsjökull glacier tongue is accessible via short guided ice walks. The microclimate here is the warmest and sunniest in Iceland.
