Hengifoss

Hengifoss is Iceland's third-tallest waterfall at 128 metres, set inside a canyon with striking red clay and black basalt stripes ancient lakebed sediment laid down millions of years ago. The 2.5 km hike passes the stunning Litlanesfoss on the way. Despite its impressive height and vivid geology, Hengifoss is one of Iceland's most overlooked major waterfalls, largely because it sits far from the tourist trail in the east.
