Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe 100 metres wide, 44 metres tall, discharging 193 cubic metres per second from the Vatnajökull glacier. The spray cloud is visible for kilometres. Standing at the rim as the ground vibrates underfoot is an unforgettable encounter with raw geological power. Despite its fame, the remote location means the approach is often quiet.
