Hafragilsfoss drops 27 metres into the Jökulsárgjúfur canyon just downstream from Dettifoss. While Dettifoss gets all the attention, Hafragilsfoss is broader and lower, spreading across the full canyon width in a curtain of glacial water. The canyon walls here are among the most dramatic in the Jökulsá á Fjöllum system, with sheer basalt faces rising hundreds of metres on both sides.
