Hljóðaklettar

📍 Northeast Iceland

📖 Description

Hljóðaklettar, meaning "Echo Rocks", is a surreal landscape of cave-honeeycombed lava formations and twisted basalt columns along the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river. The rock formations create remarkable acoustic echoes that gave the area its name. This geological wonderland sits within Vatnajökull National Park and is one of the most otherworldly landscapes in all of Iceland.
