📖 Description
Hverfjall is a perfectly symmetrical tephra ring volcano rising 160 metres above the Lake Mývatn basin, formed around 2,500 years ago. The crater is 1 km across and the rim walk takes about an hour, offering panoramic views over the entire Mývatn region its lava formations, lakes, geothermal areas and distant volcanoes. Strikingly visible from the road, yet most visitors drive past without stopping to climb it.
