Skútustaðagígar
📍 North Iceland
📖 Description
Skútustaðagígar are pseudo-craters formed when flowing lava met the shallow water of Lake Mývatn and steam explosions punched circular holes through the lava crust. The craters range from a few metres to 50 metres across, creating a moonscape of concentric rings. The circular boardwalk trail passes over and around these extraordinary formations above the mirror-flat lake.
