Grábrókargigar Craters
📍 West Iceland
📖 Description
Grábrókargigar is a cluster of red and orange volcanic craters formed about 3,400 years ago, rising from a vast lava field. A circular boardwalk trail climbs to the main crater rim, with views over the surrounding lava and distant mountains. The vivid red, orange and purple volcanic rock colours are extraordinary. Just off the main road between Reykjavik and Snæfellsnes, yet inexplicably overlooked by most passing tourists.
