Djúpalón Beach
📍 West Iceland
📖 Description
Djúpalón is a haunting black pebble beach in Snæfellsjökull National Park, littered with the rusted iron remains of a British trawler wrecked in 1948. Four ancient lifting stones of different weights "Full Strength", "Half Strength", "Weakling" and "Useless" tested prospective fishermen for crew strength. The surrounding lava formations, sea stacks and Snæfellsjökull backdrop make this one of Iceland's most atmospheric beaches.
